I will be live blogging about the Panthers and Saints game so please leave a comment if you are reading this. I will update this blog while the Panthers and Saints game is being played.

This will give Panthers and Saints fans a place to exchange comments as the game progresses and to get my take on the action. So if you want to talk about the Panther/Saints while it is happening then come to this blog and leave a comment.

Today’s inactive Panther players are QB Jimmy Clausen, CB Josh Thomas, RB Mike Goodson, LB Thomas Williams, DT Andre Neblett, OT Lee Ziemba and DT Frank Kearse. If Cam Newton and Derek Anderson are injured the emergency quarterback will probably be Armanti Edwards.

I was a little surprised to see Mike Goodson on the inactive list, his fumbles apparently caused this. If Goodson is released look for the team to pick Tyrell Sutton back up. I hope John Kasay gets a good reaction from the fans today even if he is a Saint. Remember the Carolina Panthers cut Kasay he didn’t leave them.

Newton throws a pick and it looks to me that he never saw the defender. Let’s hope he can get it together. I don’t think Cam Newton will dwell on the mistake too long. Dan Conner made a good stop on the Saints fullback but the Saints score on the next play.

The Panthers stall out after a couple of good plays by DeAngelo Williams. Williams was catching a lot of grief from the fans before a decent outing against Chicago last week. I agree with John Lynch from Fox. Shockey should be a target often in this revenge game for him against his former team.

Great duel between Panther Linebacker James Anderson and Drew Brees, each changing their play.Andersonf ollowed it up with a great tackle for a loss on Sproles. Next play Sproles breaks a long one only to fumble with Martin recovering for the Panthers. The play was then overturned due to down by contact. Nice play by Charles Godfrey to stop the driver. Field goal by former Panther John Kasay to make the score 10-0. Please Panthers and Saints fans leave a comment if you are reading this. I would love to see your take on the game so far.

Panthers move down the field in spurts then Cam Newton hit Steve Smith on a long touchdown. Olindo Mare’s extra point was blocked. Smith took a late hit on the touchdown and a fight broke out in the end zone. Saints get the 15 yard penalty. Saints 10 Panthers 6.

Saints counter with a long drive with Brees barely escaping sacks a couple of times. Brees footwork buys time for his receivers to get open.Carolinaneeds to get him on the ground and disrupt Brees’ rhythm. Mark Ingram gets the touchdown for the Saints and they are winning 17-6. Ingram gets called for taunting in another example of bush league play by the Saints.

DeAngelo Williams takes an option pitch for 69 yards and a touchdown! Love the Panthers don’t die attitude. Wide receivers with several blocks on the running plays.

Panthers defense used a hand signal that looks like timeout signal and ref’s stop the clock so Saints can get a field goal by Kasay. Another fight had already broken out which brings the total to three so far by my count. Score at halftime Saints 20 Panthers 13

Panthers apparently did call time at the end of the half. I saw some players indicate otherwise to the officials. I saw Gamble pretend to be blocked on a running play and brother in lawing it with a WR who pretended to block him on the opening drive of the 2^nd half. Brees dinks and plinks the Saints down the field for a Saints field goal by Kasay. Saints 23, Panthers 13. That missed Panther extra point is bothering me.

Cam Newton looking to other receivers as Steve Smith is facing double coverage. Shockey talking smack after two catches. Panthers appear to score on pass to LaFell who didn’t score after all. Panthers tryCam on a sneak that fails, then he scores on a second run. Saints 23, Panthers 20.

Panthers get the ball back on an interception then drove down the field. Cam Newton took charge of that drive with his running and passing. Another roughing the passer call on the Saints and then a false start by Carolina. Greg Olsen scores on a pass from Newton.Carolina takes the lead 27-23.

Fired up Panthers defense weathers a drive attempt by Drew Brees and the Saints. Sherrod Martin makes a key third down stop forcing a punt which results in a touchback.

The Panthers can’t run out the clock and give Brees the ball back. Saints move down the field to take the lead 30-27 with 50 seconds left in the game.
