Players don't want Tim Tebow

TMZ asked Jacksonville Jaguars TE Mercedes Lewis about the possibility of adding Tim Tebow to the roster during the offseason.

From TMZ:

The Jacksonville Jaguars only won two games last season and are in DESPERATE need of help at quarterback, but tight end Marcedes Lewis wants no part of Tim Tebow.

Tebow's future with the New York Jets is tenuous at best and most experts think the team will send him packing this offseason.

And while the GM of the Jags has already come out and said he doesn't see Tebow joining his hometown team, Lewis hammered the point home last night in Hollywood ... telling our photog, "We need a guy that's going to put us over the hump right now. Not a project."

It is certainly stating the obvious, and Tebow, who went to high school in Jacksonville, would certainly sell tickets, but Lewis is right. They need a top-tier quarterback, and that person is not on the roster. That person is also not Tim Tebow.

Jaguars Statistical Leaders for 2012

Well, the regular season has concluded. The Jaguars won just two games and own the second pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. With that, here is a look at the stats leaders...

All one needs to look at to see the weak offense is the rushing stats. Maurice Jones-Drew was the leading rusher, and he missed most of the season with an injury.

A bright spot was Cecil Shorts, who had 55 catches for 979 yards and seven touchdowns.

Defensively, nobody had more than 3.5 sacks.

Easy to say that a defensive end will likely be the pick at the beginning of the first round.

Final Week Of the Season: Decisions to be made

It's been tough to watch. Jacksonville, with so many issues, sit at 2-13 and in the running for the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. After seeing what Robert Griffin III did this season, the team will almost certainly be eyeing Geno Smith of West Virginia, hoping for a similar performance.

Several other decisions need to be made. Maurice Jones-Drew, not fully committed to the team, needs to go. Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert? See ya.

Starting next season, if the team can get a good quarterback and running back, they will be set. The difference is at QB. Getting a young, talented star will be pivotal. I expect them to take a RB and QB with two of their first three picks. The team has a lot of talent at receiver with Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon.

The defense has quality pieces, but the production hasn't been there. This last game is the last chance for some to stick to the team and fight for contracts in the offseason. Expect many of the players you see on the field with the Jaguars to not be back come next season.

Jaguars stumble again, fall to Miami 24-3.

It wasn't pretty. Jacksonville (2-12) fell 24-3 to Miami in an ugly game last Sunday, that when you look at the stats, doesn't look all too bad.

The Jaguars converted six of 15 third downs, didn't turn the ball over once, recorded two sacks and forced a fumble they recovered. But, just three points came out of it as the squad made it to the red zone four times, failing to score.

With the defeat, Jacksonsville ties a franchise record for losses.

"We were not as disciplined as we have been -- or we will be," coach Mike Mularkey said. "Every time we take a step forward, we take two steps back. I take total blame for that."

The Jaguars, in the running for the No. 1 pick in next year's draft, host the Patriots this week.

2012 Schedule Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars to struggle despite having MJD back

(ICON/SMI)

Here is the 2012 schedule and prediction. Do you agree? Let me know below!

Week 1: 14-28 loss to Vikings

- Christian Ponder was solid at the end of last season and could do big things for the Vikings this season. It will start week one.

Week 2: 3-28 loss to Texans

- The AFC South favorites shouldn't have any issue getting a win against the Jaguars.

Week 3: 16-17 loss to Colts

-  No luck for Jax against Andrew Luck. The Stanford rookie QB gets it done.

Week 4: 20-24 loss to Bengals

- Cinci is on the way up, while the Jaguars are headed in the other direction. 0-5 start.

Week 5: 21-17 win over Bears

- They have to win one, don't they?

Week 6: BYE

Week 7: 21-20 win over Raiders

- Two in a row! Blaine Gabbert starts to put it together, as does Justin Blackmon.

Week 8: 56-6 loss to Packers

- This could get ugly.

Week 9: 21-31 loss to Lions

- You expect this defense to stop Matt Stafford and Megatron?

Week 10: 31-30 win over Colts

- In the second match-up of the year, Jackonsville gets it done against Luck and company.

Week 11: 28-20 loss to Houston

- Playing in the AFC South is not easy, even with Peyton Manning missing.

Week 12: 16-10 win over Titans

- Third consecutive game against a division foe, Maurice Jones-Drew runs wild against a tough Titan defense.

Week 13: 13-22 loss to Bills

- Bills are going to contend for a playoff spot, and this one will go a long way in deciding if they make it.

Week 14: 27-20 win over the Jets

- Who knows with New York. Could be a lot of changes with that club by week 14.

Week 15: 27-20 win over Dolphins

- Rookie QB can't overcome the Jags

Week 16: 21-44 loss to Patriots

- This game all depends on how much New England has locked up by that time. Could actually be a win.

Week 17: 12-13 loss to Titans

- NFL Draft, please.

FINAL RECORD: 6-10

What to Watch: Bucs host Pats in preseason battle

Tonight is a big day for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After last week's loss to Tennessee in the second preseason game, many of the questions that were erased after the first contest reappeared. There are three things to keep an eye on for Tampa tonight. Here they are...

1) Rookie running back to the rescue? LeGarrette Blount is a bit banged up, so expect first round pick Doug Martin of Boise State to get a chance to shine. The little man can do it all and will need to this season, aiming to create a two-headed monster in the backfield for Greg Schiano. Josh Freeman will likely look to air it out a bit, so expect more carries for this guy in the second quarter.

2) Pressure -- One of the worst parts of the Bucs defense in years past has been the defensive line, or lack there of. The team has failed over and over again to get consistent pressure. Look for the team to blitz tonight and try and prove its worth.

3) Return game -- Somebody needs to step up and become the returner for the Bucs. Who is it going to be? There are several candidates, but one to keep an eye on is Preston Parker. He has the ability to break free. Let's see who steps it up tonight and gets closer, perhaps, to winning the job.
